Medical Care Onboard Ship (MC)
This is an MCA approved course which meets the mandatory requirements for Seafarers who are seeking Captain qualification or want to qualify to be a Medical Person in Charge.
Who needs it?
All Seafarers who are seeking Captain qualification or want to qualify to be a Medical Person in Charge.
An update course must be taken within 5 years to remain in date.
This intensive course is very practical covering life support, diagnostic techniques, management of a wide range of medical conditions and practical instruction in a variety of procedures such as clinical examination techniques, intramuscular injections, wound suturing and monitoring vital signs.
Standard: STCW95 A-VI/4-2. This notation appears on certificates issued on successful completion of the course. The certificate is crucial when submitting to maritime authorities as evidence of training to this level. It is not possible to do the Medical Care course without first holding a Medical First Aid certificate.
Certificates are valid for 5 years for persons responsible on board ship for medical care and the use of medical supplies. Certificates are not time-limited for tickets of competency.
