
• Update for Medical Care on Board Ship
This course is held regularly from September to June – additional courses may be possible by special arrangement.
This is an MCA approved refresher course which meets the mandatory requirements for Seafarers who are designated to take charge of medical care on board ship. This intensive course refreshes the knowledge and skills provided by previous training in Medical Care on Board Ship as outlined above.
Standard: STCW95 A-VI/4-2
Entry requirements: Candidates must have previously received approved or recognised training in Proficiency in Medical Care On Board Ship (in accordance with Section A-VI/4-2 of the STCW Code).
Issue of certificate: Candidates are assessed during practical exercises and via a multiple choice examination paper. Updating of Medical Care on Board Ship is required at least every five years for captains and persons reponsible for medical care and the use of medical supplies
Certification Body: Maritime and Coastguard Agency , UK
MCA reapproval October 2011 for a further 5 years.
Course fee: € 650 (€ 585 when paid more than 2 weeks in advance)
